Looking for compatible high speed modem/router. Any suggestions?
Best bet would be to get the kind that works via ethernet, a.k.a. a normal
"high speed modem". Those can be used on literally any computer with a
network adapter. (Connecting via USB or whatever is non-standard.)
Thanks Auric..
I followed your advice...
I got myself a Belkin PCI ethernet card. Installed it with no problems.
I also contacted my ISP and they sent me a new modem/router (Thompson
TG585 v7) for free (apart from a few quid for P&P} which again, I
installed with no bothers.
So, I connect it all up with Ethernet cable and it all runs. Brilliant eh!!
The modem/router has wireless functionality but I've not been able to
try that out yet cos I don't have a wireless pc/laptop or nothing. Even
so, I got a mate come and visit me next weekend with his wireless laptop
so we will play around together with that and hopefully get it to work,
I may not have the best kit installed here. Nevertheless, it's been all
been relatively cheap and it allows me to experiment and progress on a
bit..
Windows 98 is still a goer !! Eh??
So now I wonder what would e a GOOD wireless modem/router and usb
wireless adapter to go for?
Any advice from you (or anyone) would be most welcome. as I am still
learning.
