Discussion:
MSFN is now officially dead, down, offline, gone, no DNS records...

I haven't visited msfn for a couple of weeks - until today.

And I see that it's off-line.

But more than that - it's DNS entries have been wiped!

==========
Retrieving DNS records for msfn.org...
DNS servers
ns1.msfnhosting.com [67.228.40.28]
ns2.msfnhosting.com [67.228.40.29]
Query for DNS records for msfn.org failed: Timed out
==========

The last known IP address for msfn.org was 74.86.39.114, and even with
that in my hosts file, there is no response.

So where are all the win-9x/me refugees from MSFN.org?

Time to come back to the only win-98 forum that ever mattered. The
first and still the only one that really matters.

The one with no moderators.

The one with no censorship.

The one where you can post working product keys.

The one where you can discuss how to violate EULAs.

The one where you can post copyright-infringing URL's to your hearts
desires.

The forum is microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion -> on usenet.

MSFN.org is dead.

Long live usenet.

Methinks he doth protest too much. If the MSFN forum is gone, then this
is the only '98 discussion area anyway; no need to go on about it:
you've won, OK?

Though if you want to make a few hosts reconsider whether they'll
continue carrying it, you're going the right way about it.

Indeed. Just don't go on about it, OK! (FWIW I'm a usenet fan and have
never been an MSFN user.)

Well, Win98 is pretty much a goner for me.

The only installation of it I have left is in a virtual machine on a
Win7 64bit machine.(Which will not run 16 bit apps)

I use Win98 to run my old win3x version of Tetris

The egomaniacal pricks have got msfn back up and running.

It's now even more horrible to view on FF2 than it was before.

Nice way to spread FUD.

Micro$haft doesn't have enough leverage to make that happen.

Nobody has enough leverage to make any given usenet group go away,
regardless what gets posted to it.

MSFN.org is dead.
But like a zombie - it's back today.

That's ok.

MSFN has outlived its usefulness for hosting useful material or
answering questions about win-98 related topics (both hardware and
software). But their egotistical, infantile fettish for locking threads
that don't go their way is alive and well:
